Artist Bio

A Lifelong Love Affair

Music is Becki Grace’s passion in life.  She began singing at the age of three with her two older sisters and mother in church. She learned to sing during this time before she can really even remember learning and tuned her ear to the stereo recordings of the Beatles through floor speakers pulled up to either side of her head, playing with the fade and balance 'til she memorized every nuance and tonal inflection of their catalog.  She began songwriting at the age of seven, and now literally writes songs in her sleep.  As she grew up, she participated in church choirs, school choirs, auditioned ensembles, performed solos, at various competitions, theatre, karaoke, and ultimately began singing with her first band in 2012.

Becki Grace performed both originals and covers regionally with her late husband, Jeff, in their band 3 Mile Smile (3MileSmileBand.com) for eight years until his tragic untimely death in January 2021.   They released four albums together, with the last album coming out after his death.  Music was their first connection, and she feels it still in the music she makes.  She is now writing songs for her debut solo album.

When asked what music means to her, Becki declares, “Music is my best coping skill for life. It is an expression of emotion that bonds humans to one another. Whether listening to others or creating my own, music touches my soul and reminds me that billions of people have done this for thousands of years and they didn’t have anything I don’t have. It is an understanding friend, an encouragement, the primary constant in my life, my oldest relationship. It is hope and comfort. It receives me and finds a way to make my pain useful. It channels my broken energy into something meaningful and beautiful. It, both, takes me somewhere and grounds me, somehow at the same time. Music also connects me to other music makers in the scene so that I don't feel so alone.”

As a musician, Becki Grace is inspired by musicians she grew up listening to and emulating, such as the Beatles, Peter, Paul, & Mary, and Linda Ronstadt. She has been vocally influenced by artists including Ann Wilson, Karen Carpenter, Patsy Cline, Bonnie Raitt, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Sheryl Crow, Jann Arden, Dolly Parton, Susan Tedeschi, Grace Potter, Joss Stone, Joan Osborne, Alanis Morissette, Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Cass Elliot, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Rosemary Clooney, Carly Simon, Sarah McLachlan, Michelle Branch, and Stevie Nicks, among others.  Becki has developed an eclectic love and interest in music and enjoys exploring what imprint she will leave behind for others.

Her hobbies include hosting Local Honey on Radio KCM, going to concerts, and supporting other local musicians!  She’s also a little intense about her cats.

Listener Impressions

“I saw a band influenced by many of my musical heroes. I could hear some Jefferson Starship, some Ronnie Montrose, and some soul of Melba Moore - Love it.” – Rex Webb

“Becki loves experiencing music as much (if not more?) than making it and it's what makes her such a talented songwriter and performer. She inspires me with her commitment to professionalism and getting it just right. She's been my sister in music for well over a decade and I'm a better musician because of it.” - Oslo Cole
